Shenanigan's/June's Birthday Bash 3/21/09

Photobucket

It was our pleasure to perform at June's birthday bash held at Shenanigan's in Bay Ridge,Brooklyn. Birthday girl performed a rousing rendition of "Walking on Sunshine" with the band (and a fine job she did as well)

Our new male lead singer Ferris had the crowd up and by the second set dancing with frenzy and 80's abandonment as the drinks flowed and the tunes kept on coming as we so like to do in our own special way. Thanks everyone for coming down and dressing in 80s style and fashion making it a truly colorful evening.

Pre-gig I sauntered across the street with Diamond Dave for a good old fashioned slice of Brooklyn Pizza at Buon Gusto brick oven Pizza and Restaurant which I had been eyeballing since our last Shenanigan's gig and they certainly delivered their promise of Cheese+Sauce+Dough=happy 80s band member. Nothing outstanding to say but nothing negative as well, this slice gets 3 stars. They did have some nice looking specialty slices (a la Vodka slice anyone?) but its always good to begin with the standard "slice" and branch out from there even in the face of a wide array of FOODish temptation.

The New Airwaves!!!

Hello 80's Fans, we're back! After an exhaustive search for just the right person, we have an incredible new singer to help take us to the next level of awesomeness. So please welcome Ferris to The Airwaves! The New Airwaves will make their debut at Shenanigans on 3rd (Third Ave. at 89th St.) in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn on Saturday March 21st. It is also a party thrown by one of our biggest fans Betsy, to celebrate the birthday of her friend June. That weekend also marks the beginning of spring, a time of rebirth that is perfect for our re-introduction to the world. We have many new songs to share with you, so come down and shake your booty with the greatest 80's cover band in America! Be there or be square.

A Special Thanks to Michael (The Stickmen, Bridget Jones Diary) and Kandy for coming down to our New Year's Eve Bash and helping Blue Jean with her vocal duties at the mike and in the 11th hour might I add. Michael entertained the crowd with his Agressive Showmanship,Professional Vocal Delivery and Baffling yet persistent Cries of "Right!!!, What's All This Then"

A Brand New Year is upon us!

Hello 80's fans!

Many exciting things are happening in the world of the Airwaves. First up, Duckie has left the band, and we wish him well. However, we are therefore now in the process of searching for a new male lead singer! If you or anyone you know is interested in auditioning, please drop us a line at info@theairwavesband.com

Second, our last performance of 2008 is coming up in the form of a New Year's Eve Brooklyn Bash! The cost is $75, which includes full dinner until 11pm, snack buffet after that, open bar from 10pm to 1am, a DJ, and of course The Airwaves rockin' the house! We hear that tickets are going fast, so if you want to attend, stop by Shenanigans on Third at 8901 Third Ave. in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and pick them up!

If we don't see you there, everyone have a wonderful holiday season, and we will be back in 2009 bigger and better than ever!

One Set Aside.

To ponder FOOD (and our country too blahblahblah)

ABOUT THE FEAST: The Array was Dazzling to the eye and the air was so stuff(ing)ed... I mean thick you could cut it with a gravy ladle,...uhh,...knife.

And for afters.

Le dessert (They are saved as "After's" for a reason, mmmm). Tonight we have Freeform Apple/Pear cobbler with an air propelled dollop of whipping creme (at 2 p.m.) and a homeade Brownie with Chocolate AND Butterscotch chips to boot. As well as Tasty Coffee (didja ever notice how a cuppa joe can look quite realistically like a cuppa gravy) which was way under appreciated after such the ordeal of Flavor onhand.

Underscore/Bar East 11/21/08

There was no food to be had at the Underscore but as has been said in days of yore "Gin and Tonic is a type of food". No drink tickets but they knocked a buck off the beverage prices for band members.

I had to have something crunchy to compliment my juniper and quinine concoction and potato crisps always make the grade as do roasted nuts. Bless the people at Planters as the cheaper brands are skimping on the volume in their little fifty cent tubes of nutty joy whereas Mr. Peanut still delivers a full 1.75 ounces and for just nine cents more.
